About the event
Black Pearl is delighted to return to Salem Baptist Church of Abington to offer a musical celebration of this most important holiday in the Christian tradition. The concert featured works by Black women composers beginning with Julia Perry's tragic Stabat Mater, featuring Mezzo soprano Zoie Reams, followed by the US premiere of composer Hannah Kendall's powerful and evocative work about the transatlantic slave trade and at pains to temper the light followed by Vaughn William's glorious and uplifting Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, led by Black Pearl Associate Conductor, Jaman Dunn-Danger.
