About the event
In this concert, Jeri Lynne Johnson will lead Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM - the oldest symphonic group in Mexico City- in a performance of Bachianas brasileiras no. 9 by Heitor Villa-Lobos, followed by the Mexican premiere of Source Code , composer Jessie Montgomery's exploration of the essence of African-American musical language. The concert closes with Franz Schubert's Fifth Symphony, which in turn is a tribute to the language of musical classicism.
